Governor's Harbor, Eleuthera     Latitude 25° 11.75N - Longitude 76° 16.0W

Arrived in lovely Governor's Harbour after a spirited downwind sail from Rock Sound.  There were only two boats in the harbor, both shallow draft vessels anchored close to shore in the sand.  The harbor is notorious for its bad holding and after trying three times, finally found a spot that would hold the anchor under tug of reverse power.  The town is built on a hillside and is joined to 'Cupids Cay', a rocky outcropping that forms the basis of the main wharf here.  The markets are fairly well stocked and reasonably priced.  There is a bakery, a few restaurants and a laundry service that is just about the best value in the Bahamas (the ladies wash, dry and fold your clothes for you).  Another great value is the Internet service offered by the library-I could actually afford to read and write and proofread my emails at their five dollar per hour rate (my apologies now to those of you used to getting short cryptic emails with misspellings).

I also took a long hike to the remnants of the old Club Med.  The resort was abandoned a few years ago after the last hurricane.  The Club Med, like my marriage that had its start there, are now better left in the past, and after taking a picture at the now nameless and unstately gate, I hitchhiked back into Governor's Harbor to join friends for a lunch at the Blue Room Café.
