Log January 31, 2004 Big Farmer's Cay, Exumas Latitude 23°57.4N - Longitude 76° 18.7W Winds, "clocking" again, we had to leave the friendliness of Black Point Settlement and head for an anchorage protected from westerly winds. We chose a beautiful cove on Big Farmer's Cay, an uninhabited island located just across from a settlement of wonderful people on Little Farmer's Cay. Needing some contact with other people, I made friends at the Farmer's Cay Yacht Club and spent a really pleasant evening dining with a nice couple who I've seen traveling in their Pilothouse Ketch, watched the Super Bowl, played pool, and drank a few beers—perfect! I was also thrilled to meet Chris Parker, the weather forecaster I've been listening to on the SSB. Nice guy, and what a job, living on his boat, helping sailors safely make it from one place to the next. Thanks, Chris! The dinghy ride home after the game was eerie, since the water was absolutely flat, and as you read above, even in the dark, you could see the detail of the sea bottom. I was planning on going lobster "hunting" today at Cave Cay, but the depth sounder went out, and by the time it was fixed, it was too late to leave, so today, I'll get some good writing in and hope those lobsters will wait for me one more day.
